SWEL finalised this underwater recovery tool fabrication in Hardox Steel.

Hardox is an extremely strong wear resistant steel. The yield strength also varies between steel grades; For example, the typical yield strength of Hardox 400 is 1100 MPa, but the yield strength of Hardox 600 is about 1650 MPa.

Compared to standard structural steels, these values ​​are much higher; For example, S355 has a yield strength around 355 MPa.

SWEL have developed multiple butt and fillet procedures to weld all of these materials and here they are put in practice for a recent hi spec fabrication for our valued client.

The key difference between 316 and the more common 304 grade is the addition of 2–3% molybdenum, which provides superior resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion.

These particular Hastelloy C-276 spools were for a national clients new build plant as part of a pipework contract.

Hastelloy C-276 is one of only a few materials resistant to corrosion by moist chlorine, hypochlorite and chlorine dioxide solutions. The key with this procedure is dramatically low interpass temperatures.
